Bio Pic MSCI attended my first yoga class in 2002 while living overseas, and was instantly hooked.  The movement and flow felt so natural to me and I was amazed by how energized I was afterwards.  After moving to NC, I found a small yoga studio and continued taking classes when I could but, located 45 minutes away, it was challenging to maintain a regular practice.  However, in the last 4 years yoga turned out to play an integral role in my life’s journey.  A welcome friend, a nurturing guide, yoga became my beacon of possibility, hope and enlightenment.   This was not always the case for me.  I was diagnosed with a debilitating condition in 1998 and, over the years, I have struggled with finding both emotional and physical stability.  Working full time, travelling regularly and attending graduate school, I lost myself and my yoga practice along the way.  Pushing too hard, I was eventually hospitalized twice in one year.  Stressed, burnt out, emotionally distraught and unhealthy, I sought out my old friend yoga.  The studio became my sanctuary, the yoga mat, my haven.  Through the power of yoga, pranayama, and a new meditation practice, I slowly began to heal and eventually discovered my inner strength and my authentic self.  I knew it was time to make serious changes in my life and after much meditation and reflection, I left the corporate life to start my own business.  At about the same time, I entered into yoga teacher training where I was hoping to deepen my own practice, but happily discovered along the way that I wanted to share this gift of yoga with others.  My teacher training exposed me to multiple styles and aspects of yoga.  From Ashtanga and Anusara, to Bhakti, Kundalini, Iyengar and Yoga Nidra (to name just a few), I graduated with an eclectic and unique perspective on teaching yoga.   I bring the influence of these styles and techniques into my class, with an emphasis on proper alignment and breath work.  Yoga is a personal journey and everyone comes to yoga for different reasons.  I hope to help students cultivate their own unique practice, whatever their journey may be.   I first came to yoga to strengthen the body, I came back to yoga to heal the soul, and I remain so that I may keep evolving, sharing, and giving back.  Always remembering to live life to the fullest, love with an open heart, and just breathe.  Om Shanti.
